Shinjuku is the town that never sleeps, and we are jetlagged so neither do we. Today we explored a Shinto Shrine, Goldengai, Kabukicho, Metropolitan observation deck and went shopping!
We encountered beautiful ravens that made a garbage can alley seem like pure nature.
Goldengai in the day time is totally deserted and really relaxing but I with hundreds of tinsy bars packed in a very small area, imagine it is the opposite most of the time.
Goldengai, like most of Tokyo is full of beautiful signs and stickers. Here are a few of my favourites:
Even the recycling, post boxes, street covers and fake nails are beautiful.
We walked through Kabukicho, mostly by accident and stumbled past the Robot Restaurant. I probably will never get the “Roboto, Roboto” song out of my head. The flashing lights gave Brent a migraine and we quickly got out of Tokyo’s red light district as fast as possible.
It was a misty night but we followed through with our plans to visit Tokyo’s metropolitan government building observation deck. After waiting in line, we took the elevator up 45 floors to get a free view of the city.
I guarantee you that Shinjuku fell asleep long after we did.
